Just wanted to let Synth-Zoners know that I just won this week's 100.00 prize in
TC-Helicon's "Me and My Harmony G Competition". It's the first time I have even made a video since High School, the good ol' days of Super-8 film. I currently don't own a video camera and my digital camera only shoots snippets of moving images...so I used my Mac's iSight webcam and iMovie software...and am pretty darn happy with the results! I converted the image to black and white and used a couple of filters to give it a moving lattice-screen effect in the background...and if you watch the movie to the very end, it transitions to color before fading out. The framing isn't always perfect, as I find myself hiding behind the mic more often than not, but hey, I can remedy that next time! I'm just so happy to be picking up the guitar again and writing original material. I have a bunch of archived songs from the last 25 years that I'll be posting on a regular basis, with the videos more like a mix (or collage) of my own (hopefully artistic) creations combined with open source material.

After uploading the video, I re-mastered the audio so it has much more "presence" but need to add it to the original video and re-upload it, which I'll do sometime next month.

Please feel free to leave any relevant comments, as they are always appreciated (even from the forum's smart-asses, you know who you are!). In case anyone is interested, here are the lyrics. The astute reader will notice that the last two verses and last chorus have subtle changes. How discerning are you?

December

Dreams ache brought a river
Remembrance stings of winter
Voices veil their telling
Wherever words may fall
Spirits rise recaptured spring
Solace clothed in whispering
Like love drowned deeper
Surrounding our despair

Locked away this better place
Memory longing for embrace
Held in shadow, secrets shown
Its pain were we to stay
Scent of grace, an opened heart
Faded moon, still worlds apart
Frozen dawn of old remorse
December garlands meet

Chorus:
Circle close to guided chance
Lost within a whirling dervish dance
Surmise the truth;
it's all been sought before
Survive the truth,
walk through the chosen door
No doubting promise found
No doubting promise found

Dreams ache brought a river
Remembrance stings of winter
Voices fail their telling
Wherever words may fall
Spirits rise recaptured spring
Solace clothed in whispering
Like love drowned sweeter
Surrounding our despair

Locked away this better place
Memory longing for embrace
Held in shadow, secrets sown
Its pain were we to stay
Scent of grace, an opened heart
Faded moon, still worlds apart
Frozen dawn of cold remorse
December garlands meet

Chorus:
Circle close to guided chance
Lost within a swirling cosmic dance
Surmise the truth;
it's all been thought before
Survive the truth,
walk through the chosen door
No doubting promise found
No doubting promise found

Take care,

Michael

(One thing I definitely learned is not to wear slippery sox when making a video...they don't work too well when trying to switch buttons on a pedal!)

Interesting to note Helicon's "direction" with these pedals.

This is an obvious attempt at promotion for the Harmony G, and thats fine, but I wrote to Helicon asking about all the Harmony M owners and if we were going to get a go, and the answer was no it was only for the G owners and that there were no plans at all to have an M competition too.

I also noticed the new pedals are also geared to the guitarist. So maybe Helicon have decided the keyboard players do not need the Helicon gear.

Bill, I currently have a Roland GW-7, which I mainly use as a controller for my software instruments, tho' the onboard sounds and styles (in conjunction with EMC Styleworks) suit my limited needs just fine. I read all the various posts about the new arrangers (with great amusement and sometimes consternation), but just don't feel that compelled to make any new investment in the current arranger lineup. I'd much rather buy a VST hardware player!

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! Much appreciated!

My budget would be much more amenable to the MuseBox Player that will be released later this year. Muse Research now has a clearance store for the older Receptor models, so even the better equipped rack units are more affordable than ever!
