Went back to the VA where my father-in-law is. 93 year old late stage Alzheimers patient. He can't stand, speak coherently or feed himself, but he really smiles when I show up. Sadly, I'm the only one who sees him three or 4 times a week. The Alzheimers unit of this VA is a sad, lonely place on holidays. They want me there once a week. I'm not able to do that, but I'll be there whenever I can when asked. I do one job a week for corporations and have the check written out to a group that lobbies for nursing home reform.
That makes me feel good on fathers day.
