Roland E-50..that I purchased while never ever playing one..

If it feels like my Juno G..I will hate the keys...

I am entertaining offers...before I receive it..(being shipped)..

I think I will try using it with my MediaStation...this will allow me to play all my sequences (edited via system exclusive data) and custom styles....from my G70..and readable on the E-50 (mostly)..

The MediaStation will take care of my mixer, mic and effects, audio playback (MP3 and Wav)..the E-50 will take care of the sequences..

The MS will play the VST's and Giga sounds..as well as B4II....

I will also midi the MS to the E-50...so I don't have to play a lot on the light keys.. ..maybe only some synth parts on the E-50..

What this will do....for my band work...eliminate the laptop and it's questions from our audience..

Have instant sequences that sound like the way my G70 intended them to sound.. and instant styles when I need them...all with easy edits..

When I do solo work....this set up will stay home...only my G70 is needed..

Bands can be such a pain..

Let me hear your offers..please no PSR S900 trades..

And please John Dileo...no offers..

Fran, I wish I had known about the E50 a couple of weeks ago. I ended up buying Uncle Dave's PSR-3000, but might have been interested in an E-50. The E50 would be a great, light substitute for the G70. All I could offer up is an even trade, but this darn 3K is pretty nice little board in itself - much different than the Rolands; superior in a few categories and lacking in others. There's really no way to argue Y vs R, they are so different in the subjective areas. Good luck good friend.

I am no longer accepting offers for the E-50..The keybed was surprisingly better than I expected...Donny was telling me it was slightly better feel than the PSR...He lied..it is a lot better..The E-50 has the same keys as the Juno G, but has better resistance...Although shorter than the E-60 both key range and key length..I can play it without getting totally disgusted as I was with my PSR's and even my Juno G.

The E-50 case is not made as well as the E-60..The E-60 had a steel support structure under the front of the keybed..The E-50 is all plastic...

I am one of the few that actually liked and used the D-beam....E-50 doesn't have D-beam (as I knew it didn't)..

I have set it up to be as close as possible to what I am use too..on my G70...naturally with a lot of "do with outs"...It takes some getting use to...but I did that with my 2 E-60's also...

My plan is to use it with the band, along with a laptop..and the Mackie CFX12 mixer...Still very compact set up..for the many one nighters on our summer schedule..

I will also use the E-50 as a controller for my soft synths on the laptop...My Pianissimo piano and B4 organ..always available..

Soooooooo...my studio has my G70 sitting above my MediaStation.(BTW: I used the MS this week..problem free)....and the EMU Xboard61 controller is also studio used now...

I may take the 10 pound Emu to the band gigs to use as a dedicated Piano/organ...It has full size semi weighted keys and after touch...USB powered..And not much gear to haul with me..

If someone wants to make a deal with me for a E-60... I am listening...I would welcome the D-beam and extra keys..again..

But for now ..I am a happy camper..

So Fran, would you say that weight was a determining factor in benching the G70? I know it wasn't the sound or the feel, let alone the fetures. I have the same predicament now with the PSR3k.

Cass.."benching" the G70...No way!!!

I am just having fun with my toys...

This E-50 was a spur of the moment purchase...so I will use it with the summer band gigs..as I mentioned..."one nighters" thru out the summer months...

Some of the jobs are a compromise anyway..using "house" sound systems..that are set up WRONG!!!..

Also trying to get through crowded places ...to the stage....The E-50 is easier to get through the crowd...although when they see the G70 cased coming thru with wheels..they move out of the way..

The last couple weeks..I had fun using the MediaStation..Now it is the E-50's turn to earn it's keep...

But......Don't be fooled.....The only go to keyboard for me...is still the G70...For my "solo" work...or most important gigs...The G70 will be "unbenched"...

The pleasure of having..My sounds, mixer, mic/harmonizer and total control of what I am doing....the g70 is the answer....46 pounds is nothing for me to carry..in fact loaded in my case with accessories..it weighs about 80 pounds (also has wheels)..No problem for any real man..

Then I've got to give it to you, Fran. One outing with the G70 and I scurried for a lighter keyboard. Although I used it out with the band, now as a OMB I'm kind of left to myself for transporting and such. We'll have a follow-up report on using the lighter 3K next week.

The day they make something that SOUNDS as good as the G70 that is lighter, trust me, I'll be all for it. Thing is, until then, the sound is more important than the weight, IMO. And, other than the E60, there really isn't a 76 out there that saves you more than about 10 lbs., tops. I just can't imagine giving up all the G70 is, to save myself a measly ten pounds...

But it IS nice to hear from Fran a confirmation of my manhood... I was getting a bit worried, after Pasadoble put up his workout pictures

Many of us have speakers in excess of 45 lbs. Somehow, they manage it. But an arranger? Out of the question...!
