Ohhhhh.., I sold my beloved Lincoln Town Car today folks. Sorry it's off topic.., but I feel a part of me is now gone We weren't hurting for money and could have kept it.., but with our lifestyle.., we realized the car wasn't needed anymore.., and because of its beastly size it took up the entire car port (which by today's standards can actually fit 2 cars.., but only ONE if you parked a Lincoln there).

In one year (I kid you not) on it's latest inspection my mechanic about died when he added up the difference and realized I put less than 400 miles on that car over the last year. In the last 4 years I may not have even put 1000 miles on it. It just wasn't worth keeping anymore. Paying insurance, registration, and personal property tax on it (every year) just seemed pointless now.

GOOD NEWS THOUGH..., I still get to see her. The person who bought it is the person who SOLD IT TO ME I bought it from my wife's grandfather and when he found out I was selling it.., he couldn't pass it up and wanted her back... Hell I'll probably buy it back off of him in another 5 years or so

Plus my little girl is growing up fast.., I've already had to cart my daughter and her friends around town in it a few times during the school year..., NOTE TO SELF AND OTHER'S.., Lincolns DO NOT make good mini-vans Some dipwad will in due time stick a lollipop to the leather!

Yeah.., I'm fortunate though that I didn't have to sell it due to financial hardship.., that would have made selling it so much harder.

My wife and I are doing so well financially we considered donating the vehicle to a needy family but those programs have closed down in my area.

I'll miss her.., but I sure did get all the use I needed from it over the last 7 years. She turned some heads.., if I had a $1 for every senior citizen that commented on that car I'd be livin really large right now

What year was it, Squeak? They were pretty cool cars...lots of room, and real body on frame construction.

I went through a similar experience just before Christmas when I sold my 1994 Honda Accord EX-R, in order to get a newer vehicle, as the rear sub-frame was getting a tad weak from corrosion...I had it almost 15 years, and put nearly 400,000 KM. on it.

It was like a pet that I had to give up.

I like my 2002 Accord Special Edition, but I'll always have great memories of that great old EX-R.

They're almost like family.

The Lincolns were always a posh car....especially the Town Car.

Ohhh Ian it was BEAUTIFUL! Very RARE color combination too. It was a 1993 Jack Nick Signature Series. The color was Mocha Pearl and had a dark chocolate carriage top. the interior was all imaculate leather-no rips tears or nothing, carpets clean enough to eat off of, just a fine automobile. Not only that the milage was more than 60,000 miles under the average milage for a 16 year old vehicle too.

It was big, roomy, extremely comfortable, loaded with all the options, you could fit 3-4 bodies in the trunk ..., just a beautiful car.

The only problem I had was getting harrassed by the cops locally.

I bought my wife a new town car in 1975. We had just married and she was driving a PINTO.
I figured she was a keeper so I wanted to get her out of that death trap and wrap some serious iron around her.
She got two speeding tickets the first week she drove it. Said she couldn't hear the wind going past the door cracks and windows.
then she decided she couldn't park it cause it was to big. It was also too big to drive around in parking lots, and on and on and on. I gave in and gave her back her new pinto. the town car sat in the garage for two years when I sold it back to the dealer with 800 miles on it during the lenth Ford strike. I got 500 over high book for it.
I bought her the Lincoln Versai when it came out a couple years later. it was just her size and she loved it. All is well that ends well

Ohhhhh memories man..., I owned a 70's Town Car years back too. What a HUGE ride it was. Mine was white with maroon (almost velvet like) interior... It was in amazing condition when I had it.., 8 track still worked too. Finding a parking spot today for a 75 Lincoln would be a nightmare.

That Versai you got your wife is a sought after Lincoln today.

I've been eyeballin a local 1975 Cad Fleetwood lately. They call it the Mafia Editon. (black on black). Black paint, black soft v. top, black leather with black carpeting.., damn windows have even been tinted on it. It just looks like one of those cars that you'd see "Fat Tony" or "Tommy Two Times" rollin out of looking to collect

Yep... no problem getting a 76, heck, even an 88 in the back of one of those land yachts! And a drum kit in the boot, and the guitar rig in the passenger side, PA under the keyboards....

Who needs a van...?

Just for kicks and giggles I had a few relatives actually get a pic of themselves laying in the trunk of my Lincoln a few years back. I swear 4 of them piled in there like it was nothing....

I just took my most trusted mini van off the street (half hour ago)..

This Plymouth Voyager has about 250 thousand miles on it..Runs like new...And has virtually all new parts, bearings, axles, brakes, shocks, tires, water pump, fuel pump, alternator etc....oh yes a new transmission too...

It gets 27 MPG...and passes inspection always..even emissions..

A deer took out the front end last November, and I never replaced the a/c core , grille , headlight assembly etc for inspection...sooooo...I was considering fixing it..it runs so darn good...but my problem...I recently purchased a "new" Explorer XLT,,,,and we have no room in our driveway to park any more vehicles..We have six vehicles and a Utility trailer..even with our 35X60 driveway...we always have to jockey vehicles ..so no one is blocked in for work..or...play..

Anyone want the best running vehicle you ever drove with a modified front end..
