Is a XV5050 like a 5080 "minus" the sampler playback? (& a few other goodies), because at less than half the price of a XV5080, it has ALL the sounds of the XV5080 I gather. Have any corners been cut (sound-wise)?, because it is sooo much cheaper than the XV5080. Is the effects section the same? (It does mention somewhere than you can have 90MFX, with 3 simultaneous EFX at the same time).

thanks

The thing you forgot to mention is, that the 5050 is 64 polyfhonic and the 5080 128.

bye.

Yes, but apart from the extra polyphony? (which isn't that important since I will have other devices anyway)It DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY MORE ON IT! so whats rolands' excuse for charging £1400 for a XV5080, yet only £649 for a XV5050 (which includes new sounds from roland Fantom)? (you could get 2 5050's and still have change jingling about in your pocket.

i believe the 5080 is compatible with both types of add-on cards(sth like SV? & SV-X?) and the 5050 only takes the expensive new cards(svx?). So if you have be a roland fan and want to reuse your favourite sounds from older modules, you can't do it with 5050.
