Hummmmmmm, how are they going to pull that together? like you have to drill a hole in the expansionboard cover and put an input cable trough?

Well, if you read my earlier posts, I would suggest that since it is Flash ROM, and the SR ROMs can be accessed from the front panel, loading by way of .MID files could work.

One would convert a .SYX, .WAV or .AIFF or even RDAC files to a .MID file (similar to the way the SYSX2MID program for the JVs work) so you could play it on your sequencer, so it would intern load into the Flash ROM card.

The Trinity works this way. So do earlier Ensoniqs. The XP50 had a Flash ROM OS. I hear that this board would only allow SAMPLE PLAYBACK and not sampling. Even so, this would be a great addition to the JVs/XPs

Hey Al_a_man! I used to have an XP50. I had it until I obviously jumped up to an XP60. I was one day reading someone's XP/JV FAQ and they stated that early XP50s (Up to Serial# 25000) had Flash ROM because the early OSs were bug contaminated.

Hence the reason that if you go to the Downlads area on the Roland Japan or Denmark websites, you'll see upgrade files stored as MIDI files so you can play it through your sequencer so it would upgrade the OS.

Yes I did try this on my XP50 about a year ago. All it did was fix bugs, no new features or anything. The upgrades should still be there at those websites. If you want me to send it to you personally via e-mail, I'll look to see if I have them and then give it to you.
