i am a composer living in Melbourne, Australia looking to buy a 2080 module. I have done some costing on getting on in Australia, and it is about Aus$3595. When I looked on the net today, you can mail order one for about Aus$1750, which is significantly cheaper. I am just curious to know if anyone else buys gear from overseas, and what the pitfalls are in doing this. Even if I need to buy a voltage adapter, I still save around $1700 Australian, which is a lot of money!! Any advice would be appreciated.

I would say that mail order is extremely safe. You may want to check that Roland doesn't have any restrictions on shipment out of the country. You will save a lot of money and most companies are very good. Have you checked out Kraft Music? www.kraftmusic.com
