My duo partner bought a Fantom. We are fully sequenced and both have single acts, so we combine our rigs and have a ton of songs, over 500, which is great since we play casinos........yawn........

She has little practical knowledge of MIDI, somehow, and is really struggling with this workstation. She has to transfer all of her sequences to this board and is not terrible computer literate. I am trying to help her and have found where to insert patch change info, but it seems to be VERY awkward, not user friendly, and and also saves improperly. I suppose I will have to comb through the manuals to figure this out since Roland has decided to keep that info hidden within the text. i know it is designed for creating grooves, etc., but there are some of us out here who expect a tad bit of help from the manufacturer.
Has anyone else had experience editing already created MIDI files on this alleged flagship?

If I were you, I'd find a Fantom users group and go from there.

I don't have a Fantom, but the problem you're running into are probably related to the following:

- Her computer sequencer saves in a format different from the Fantom's.

- The Fantom uses different bank select messages (CC0, CC32, PG).

-The tracks on her computer may not transfer exactly to the tracks on the Fantom.

- Her computer sequences may uses protocols (messages, etc.) not included in the Fantom's sequencer format.

- The Fantom may use protocols not used on the computer.

- EFX are different, with different algorithms, etc.

- blah blah

Usually you have to recreate each sequence in the new format by dumping the basic note and CC data to the new sequencer, then change manually those parameters that either don't transfer properly or were not present at all in the old format. It can take a while, but it *is* finite.

A Fantom users group can best tell you what those parameters are.

Good luck.
