Samuel, the only way I know how to do it is to record it into a track in the sequencer. I have a JV-2080, but I would imagine that the patch dump/utilities would be the same. The procedure from the JV2080 is as follows:
1. Press the UTILITY button
2. From this screen, you should be able to locate DATA TRANSFER.
3. Select PATCH as your source
4. Destination: TO MIDI
5. Select the Patch # you wish to write. If you modified a patch and wish to save the changes to midi, instead of the internal memory, then you would select TEMP, instead of the patch #.
The procedure would be the same for performances, except that you have the option of saving the individual patch data along with the particular performance, not just the patch locations, but the actual patches. Instead of selecting PATCH, you would select PERFORM. You can then select a pre-existing performance number, select TEMP to write the changes to the current performance.
I know the display is different on the JV-1080, so these procedures may not be exact, but If you can dump one patch on the 2080, I would think you could do it on the 1080. Incidently, I am having checksum errors, when I do patch dumps, although the data appears to dump correctly. I never had this problem with my previous stand alone sequencer (Roland MC-50). I really don't know what the problem is. I have noticed this on sequences done on the MC-50, and when I dump the sequences to Cubase, the 2080 always displays a checksum error message.
