Thanks for the get-well wishes everyone. I was discharged from the hospital yesterday, I'm still a bit weak from the ordeal, but overall I'm just happy to be able to reply to still be among the living.
My heart attack was relatively mild, and fortunately, produced no ischemic damage to the heart muscle. It came on suddenly, there were no typical warnings, but the symptoms were classic, arm pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea. Thanks to my wife, just 12 minutes after it happened I was in the hospital being connected to an EKG machine and oxygen was being administered.
While the EKG was normal, blood enzymes revealed I indeed experienced a heart attack. I was transferred to another hospital where a cardiac catheterization was performed and two stents placed in my left anterior descending coronary artery, thus opening an 85 percent blockage.
Guess I'll have to go back on the exercise program, doc said to loose 25 pounds, which will put me back to 175 again, and stay away from the wild women and booze.
He also told me to slow down and take some time to smell the roses, which I fully intend to do.
I cancelled all my jobs for the next three weeks, I'm taking the month of January and part of February off to visit some of the zoners living in the sunny south, and cutting my schedule down to just 100 jobs a year. This will give me more time to take my wife, children and grandson sailing.
Thanks again everyone,
Gary
