Has anyone here downloaded the new patch bank that Roland released for the XP and XV series?! It's available at the Roland site for free download. It's made for the XV but works just fine with the XP and Super JV without any losrt artifacts.

This patch bank is superb. This goes all along to show that the XPs sounds were never outdated or suffered from an outdated synthesis system as some protested. All we needed was good superb programming.

The [PRESET E] bank which first debuted on the JV2080 in 1997 was a great example of this. After all our synthesis system (Super JV) goes bak to 1994. The [PRESET E] bank was great. This patch bank, called [NEW XV] is phonomenal.

What's cool about [NEW XV] is that is uses only the internal waveforms. This is hard to believe becuase the sounds in this bank are so good. Check out the brass and solo brass and reed patches. The synth basses and fretless bass is also really, realy good.

So that's it guys. Check it out and tell me what you think of it. It has the full 128 user patches. It's available on the Roland site in the downloads area (wherever that is now - I downloaded this bank before the site rollover).

OK Epu you got my attention! Now where exactly on Rolands site are these incredible patches. Please give the exact net address. I cant find them Just like the danish or Canadian patches for the Latin board (give me that site too!) Also I need an .svd to .syx converter. Geir Kilstis doesnt seem to work

Sorry guys, I still got a stupid question....

I have problem with loading 01_00.mid from my computer to my 3080. Can anyone please tell me how to transfer files ? Do I need a Smartmedia card? THANX!!!

YMH,

To transfer the patches to your XV, load the midi file in your sequencer and play it. The sequencer will send sysex data to your synth and load the patches. Remember to first backup user data you may have on the XV memory.

but I still can't make it.... What mode should the XV be in when the midi file is playing? patch/user? or utility/xfer? I've tried both but nothing happened.... please tell me more. THANX SO MUCH!!!

Sorry, but I don't have the XV and don't know what could be happening...this is the procedure I'm using to transfer the same file to my JV and works well.
Maybe other XV users help you with this issue.
