Maybe, as a tribute to Isaac Hayes, we can get "Chocolate Salty Balls" up as one of the tunes for a forthcoming eJam?

Now THAT was a little uncalled for...

Let's not speak ill of the Departed (for now!).

Plenty of opportunity to use that on each other

Yeah, you're right. I was only going for the emoticon but the devil got the best of me. Anyway, Fran knows that I'm only kidding him........mostly.

Skip Pitts (I think that was his name) used to sit in with a band I played with up in Memphis while I lived there. He did the original wha-wha guitar part to 'Shaft' and other tunes by amongst others, Al Green.

He was a BAAAAD mother...(shut yo' mouth!)

Even had the good grace to play his famous part while we stumbled through that great song! A class guy.

Diki, according to his bio and old publicity from Gibson Guitars, Howard Roberts took credit for the studio wah wah in Shaft.

At least that's what I've read over the years. Howard, as you know, was one of the world's most prolific jazz and studio guitarists. I have several Howard Roberts designed Gibsons in my collection and many of his albums.

Of course, Wiki isn't the final answer, but Skip never struck me as a braggart...

Diki, there are several references to Charles Pitts, which I had never heard. There are also references to Howard as a producer on lots of "Blacksploitation" film scores from the period. Also, there's a guy named Jerry Coelho, a music educator of some note who claims to have studied under Howard, who he refers to as the player on "Theme From Shaft", "Bonanza", "The Adams Family" and every beach movie ever filmed. Howard has over 2000 recording credits, including ones with the Beach Boys and many jazz "mainstay" players.

I've looked around and can't find anything more definite than that....Interesting!
