I'm planning to buy my first "serious" synth (I have a Yammy PSR630) and I've been looking around and
reading specs and reviews about the Roland JV/XPs. As I've never had any Roland keyboard, the concept
of Performance is quite obscure to me (what's the difference between patch and performance, other than
simply allowing multitimbral operation from a sequencer).
But my real question is: As I'll use it mainly for live playing, one of my concerns is how to change sounds fastly
(in the Yammy you can recall stored patches with just 1 button or even with a pedal). Is this kind of
operation possible in the Rolands? If yes, how?
And finally... are the new XVs worth waiting and saving up more money? Are they so different from the
JV/XP? which of these synths do you think is better (well, this could be another thread in itself)?
Thank you,
Luis

Once you're in a patch group, one of the ways you can move from patch to patch is by using the "increment" or "decrement" button. If you stored your favorite patches in the "user" patch group, then you should be able to move between them like that. The xp-30 also has a control jack for a foot pedal which I believe you can assign to simulate either the increment or decrement buttons.

Someone correct me if I'm off target here.
