On the Roland XP-30 (and other models) you can program the performance mode to "PART" which allows you to program 8 patches into memory for this performance...However when you call each patch up in this mode, the LED doesn't tell you what the patch is. Is there a way around this? Otherwise, whats the point if you don't know what patch you're playing (especially when playing gigs)?

I don't know if I even understand what you're trying to do, but:

Have you tried pressing the Perf and Patch buttons at the same time to put you into "Part Play" mode?

I'll give an example:
When I choose perfomance, preset - PRA-12, "POP SET 1". When I hit the first part button (part=1), I get piano,when I hit the second part button(part=2)I get bass,etc. -but the LED only tells me the part number and the name of the performance (pop set 1). I need the LED to tell me the name of each patch on each part, not just the number. Pressing patch and perf simultaneously takes me into an edit mode, but still doesn't help.
Does that make sense? thanx!

I think you should try again what darknosis said. If I press perform + Patch I get the track info for each part and I own an xp-30 too.
