Sorry.., but I think Korg has been closing the gap well before Roland. The Korg PA series when introduced hit the market with a Triton based sound engine.., and very detailed patch editing. Even the low end PA-50 is more "synth" than the GW-8.

Man..., you guys read way too much into things. Diki wasn't talking about the drums for this style needing to sound live.

If you noticed Diki "started another paragraph" and pointed out an issue he has with arranger demos on YouTube IN GENERAL. This issue has been brought up by him in the past and he just made note of it again.

I think Diki obviously knows drums in this style don't sound live. He's right too.., they are pushed way back in the mix. For those of you who DON'T play this style music.., the DRUMS and BEAT are essential and SHOULD stand out.

It's not about whether the drums are live or not. It's whether you can hear them at all

The vast majority of arranger players SAY they want 'live' sounding drums. But, OTOH, the vast majority of arranger demos I hear have them so far back in the mix that, in essence, who can TELL what they sound like..?

I remember the response to the great Audya demos as being predominantly, 'they sound great, but the drums are mixed pretty upfront'. Fact is, they sound great BECAUSE the drums are mixed pretty up front And, in all fairness, you mix whatever you are playing, whether Yamaha, Korg or Roland THAT much up front, and you will get that sound (or pretty close to it). Arranger drums are MUCH better than they used to be. But you have to mix them up front for anyone to tell...

Play with a live drummer, and see if you can EVER drown him out... Best of luck on that one!

If you want to sound 'live', whether it is natural OR electronic drums, give them a chance to cut through what you are playing. Your dancers will thank you for it...

Well maybe "we" didn't because you commented on the drums in THIS video and then wondered why people want LIVE drums in the first place.



I'm a drummer originally I know what kind of noise I can produce LOL



Some brands will require style-editing by default to do that. Some brands think it's ok to make the drummer sound as if he's playing in a room 3 blocks away.
