I can answer your first question. Go to the Roland Denmark website (www.roland.dk). Go to their downloads page and download their XP50 1.03 OS.

All you need to do is download this to a blank disk and pop the disk into the XP50. Turn off your XP50 and turn it back on with the disk in the driver.

When you turn on the XP50, the Flash ROM will be upgraded automatically. Keep in mind that this upgrade will only work with older XP50s. The rumor is that XP50s with serial numbers lower than 25000 have Flash ROM OSs.
