Hello, I just bought a Roland XP80 on E-bay and I need some help with sequencer. I used to own an XP50 and I don’t remember this problem. I’m hoping it’s something in the setup or perhaps I’m doing something out of sequence.

I can’t seem to figure out how to record a sound (instrument) on an isolated track. I tried to record drum track from the “rythym” mode but then when I switch to patch to find next sound for the next track, the drum track no lo longer plays. When I go back to “rythym” it plays, but the drum kit sound is now changed. It appears that my patch/rythym sounds are not staying on a particular track number. Also, do I have to record drums/percussion on track 10?

Lastly, whenever I try and switch to a new track, the patch/sound of the latest recorded track overwrites and plays on previously recorded tracks. Somehow, I am not doing something correct in assigning the patch/rythym sound to the track number. Perhaps I am not “saving” the sound once I have recorded a particular track. Or maybe there’s something wrong with the seq. on this unit. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

You must select your performance and only use the sounds in that performance.

Hope that helps... but if not I urge you to contact nathan sheldon www.nathansheldon.com brilliant XP-80ist, who recently bought a Fantom-X His e-mail is listed there, if I didnt help fix your problem or you have more problems, he will answer them for you.
