This may have been covered already BUT..

I'm trying to cut down on the amount of hiss all my synths seem to create. Many of them improve by turning the FX off but the worst offenders are a JV2080 and JD990. Both of these have more hiss than any other synths. Does anyone else have this problem?

Indeed! The XP-50 does the exact same thing, and has been causing me problems recording soft passages. The XP-80 at the store does NOT have this problem. The sales guy there told me it was probably old circuitry that isn't as quiet as newer versions. Or maybe Roland was just being cheap with certain models. For now, I have no solutions but to try to noise gate or EQ in my recordings...
