I'm just starting to figure out how to use one of these keyboards, and it seems like in order to play 2 patches at once, I need to be in "Performance" mode.

Can I, and if so how, add a rhythm (beat) to the performance so I could have a drumbeat playing while I play the piano sound ??

The manual is pretty lame when it comes to explaining the advanced features (IMHO).

You can set a rhythm set to midi channel 10. So you'd have part one be the piano and then skip all the way over and set a drum kit for part ten.... now as for having a drum beat playing while you play the piano, you'd have to either program this in on a computer or if you can on the keyboard and then play it via midi.... or just play the drumbeat manually while you play the piano. This would be very difficult though. You may want to look into getting a cheap drum machine so you can program drum parts in.

Thanks for the reply keyboardfreak. I kinda figured it wouldn't be possible. I don't have a pc-midi cable yet, so I can't fool around with computer programming the thing.

I used to use a cheap Yamaha PSR keyboard which of course had this ability, and then I added an Alesis Nano-Piano to it for better sound.

It's not critical for me, I was just curious. I'm on the worship team at church so I don't need a drum-beat for live stuff because we have a drummer. I just wanted one for home while I was practicing.

Hi!

If You want to play a loop from the Techno board for example, just simply assign that patch to one of the parts. Enable the keyrange function and set it for only one key. Assign the piano patch You want to the next part and switch the keymode to layer at
Perform/common. I have a hold pedal and I use it for holding the loop. If You don`t want to hold the other sounds (in this case the piano) then switch the piano part and at Perform/edit/midi/rxswitch switch the hold function Off.

It works perfectly for me.
