Hi, I want to start using synthogy ivory with my digital piano, but i dont know what i will need to run it.
Does synthogy ivory have to be fitted into a desk top Pc or does it come as a cdrom where by it could be loaded and used by a lap top.
How would it be connected to the piano

Ive got a roland Hp207 and want to expand my piano sounds, if I cant use synthogy ivory with a lap top I would look at buying a yamaha digital, probably a P155 and then I would have the best of both worlds because these pianos are both very different sounding for good reasons. Some music that I play would sound better on the brighter sounding yamaha which I dont have. However to be able to use synthogy ivory I would think it will be space saving and less expensive.

Daz

Hi Daz

1. The recommended spec to run Ivory is shown on the website. (The more powerful the better) http://www.synthogy.com/products/ivorygrand.html#features

2. It is a software program that comes on multiple DVDs and also requires an iLok Key. http://www.ilok.com/

3. You computer will need a Midi interface so that you can connect the Midi out of the Piano to the computer. (If your Piano comes with a USB Midi interface then you can use this)

4. You will need a high end (24bit) sound card with ASIO drivers, (Quality sound cards come with them as standard) and a cable to connect the Audio out of the soundcard to the input of your Piano.

Hope this helps

Before spending you money on Ivory, check out True Pianos VST, much MUCH cheaper and with a much smaller foot print. I could run it on a single core Intel 1.6 gig processor with 2 MB ram, with not a problem. Processor ran to about 50% but I still ahd no issues, and the sound quality is very very good. http://www.truepianos.com/

If you own andy Cakewalk product, I think there is still a discount.

The Amber module, I think, is the one thats bundled with Sonar 8.

I have Pianoteq. Give it a serious listen. It has an even smaller footprint and uses some type of "modeling technology" Don't be fooled by the filesize............The proof IS in the pudding!!! I was impressed. -charley

Hi Daz
You may wish to pop over to this site here http://purgatorycreek.com/ where you can compare all the different software pianos out there, (Choose the Digital Piano Shoot Out) before making a final decision.
Hope this helps
