I love my Roland gear. I love the fact that we can expand our XPs and JV. However, what I don't like is the fact that other companies always release expansion board with alternate patch disks.

Roland only released one alternate patch set that I can recall. This was the "Dance Kit" collection. Whether you are into dance or not, these patches were good.

The patches were a great indication of how deep the XPs synth engine was. The patches created sounded totally original and like nothing else in the preset banks. What's even better is that these only use the internal waveforms!

Now, what about alternate patches for expansion boards? I know Roland has one for the Vintage, but none for the others.

Are there any other alternate patches for other expansion boards?

I have the Hip-Hop, Orchestral, Bass & Drums and Experience II boards. Imagine the sonic possibilites of alternate patches for these (professionally programmed of course).

Other manufactureres who do this are KORG, KURZWEIL, YAMAHA and CASIO.
