Boy, I really dont know- due to cost considerations I am considering an XV keyboard, but all I seen to hear is that to add sounds you must buy expensive sound cards. Seems I should be able to get sounds in these boards some other way. Has anyone done it any other way?
I want the capability, that if I dont like the sounds, I can change them with a computer editor librarian. Change the order, change the sound. If I have to spend 200 everytime I want new sounds, I could have the price of a nice sampling board wrapped up in an XV in no time.

There are a number of companies that make patches for the XP/JV Series. These are available on regular floppies that you can load in via the disk drive.

The cards are going down in price. They really are the value for the money, but I do understand your concern.

You raise a very valid point.

Whats nice about the Triton is that every slot is USER WRITEABLE. Every one. Any sound you create can be stored in memory. You can set the board up just the way you want it.

Not only that, but one of the expansions is an actual different synthesizer, with it's own style of sounds. IT's the MOSS synth.

Add in the a full sampler, and you have a board that has a very, very, very wide sound field.

The 5080 is nice, but sort of limited.
