Is there a website(s) specifically for Roland xp/jv/xv series synths that would give all the settings that will closely duplicate synths used on common well known songs? It's fun to play around with a synth to try to make it sound like what you've heard in specific popular songs, but sometimes you just don't have the time to get it all figured out. If there's a website that might list songs by title and the associated synth settings of the lead or most common synth sounds(s), that would be wonderful to know. Thanks.

Hey, just hoping to bring this topic to the forefront again, 'cause it's an excellent question. I would also greatly appreciate it if anybody's drawn up such a list. I have an XP-10 and since you practically can't program the thing I'm having a heck of a time trying to recreate voices (or even getting anything that doesn't sound so GM). Anybody got anything?

The feature you are talking about is integrated into the new Yamaha arranger keyboards, I think they call it "music database" or "song database" it actually has song names, you choose a song, and the "proper" patches/voices and effects settings are automatically loaded into the keyboard for you to play.

As far as I know, none of the Roland equipment that are subject of this forum (XV and JV soundsets) do such a thing, these Roland units are more geared toward the professional musician or serious, experienced home hobbyist, who knows how to choose sounds for songs easily.

so perhaps you should look into a yamaha PSR 550, PSR 1000, or PSR 2000, or the TYROS, these range in price from $500 to $3000.

Check the "arranger keyboard" section here at synth zone, or join the Yahoo PSR songs group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yamaha-psr-songs/

Hope that helps,

Cathy
