Hi!
You need to have a software editor like the "ChangeIt" (go to following adress to download it: http://aragon.iitb.fhg.de/moss/changeit.html )
Then connect Your XP to MIDI, set the right channels and that's it. It's easy to use: You load a *.syx file and when it's printed on the screen you can click on any sound of that bank that you want and it goes to the synth, on the program number You've activated in the XP (eg U-001WestCoast). If You want it to stay there just save it (on the XP). With that program You can also edit any parameter You want to or upload all the memory to the computer!
Good Luck

Hi Prazeman:

There is a simpler way.. Get a program to convert syx-files to mid-files. This creates a midi-file that contains sysex-data that can program your synth..

Load the midi-file into the sequencer and press play.. The sound will place themselves in the user-bank, so be sure to have a backup-floppy with you own user sounds...

I used to know a page where a syx-to-mid program was available, but it is closed now.. Just look around on XP/JV-related page and see if you find something..

Does anyone know if there is a Windows program for converting .syx to .mid? I found a DOS program, but I am a blind person and my speech program only works in Windows. I have this query out on the PC software and hardware forum as well. No one as of yet has responded. If there is not such program, might there be a program that can convert .syx to .svd files?

FAEbGBD:

I have never seen any windows-programs for convertint .syx to .mid. I have only seen DOS-programs.

Sorry I could not help you there.
