I was just wondering if it´s possible to use 8 MB or 16 MB smartmediacards with the XP-30. It seems like there´s noone manufacturing the 2 MB and 4 MB cards anymore, except Roland who´s prices are ridiculous.

I was told that all I really needed was a 2MB because the sound banks did not take up much memory at all. I found the 5V card at music stores only. The only cards I could find were 4 MB. All the large electronics stores sell the 3.3V and not the 5V which is needed. You may be able to get an 8 MB card at Guitar Center.

Yes I a gree that Roland's prices for the SM cards are overly ridiculous. $35-$60!!!

I think that the MMU that deals with the SM cards has an upper limit - Maybe 4MB. What this may mean is that you may only be able to store a limited number of patches on a SM card, not matter how large the memory capacity is.

I know that my SP-202 can only take up to 4MB. I've heard failed tries of larger capacities. What you need to do is take the chance and see what happens.
