I have decided on this sound module, but if anyone out there can tell me if the 2080 is worth the extra $, I would be grateful. I know it (2080) has the track finder, and more capacity, but doesn't the 1080 really have it covered it already?

There are a few more differences between those modules. The 2080 has got 3 FX procesors, which means you can run a multipartial performance with up to 16 parts and use 2 different FXs, instead of the 1080's one fx proc.

As you mentioned, the 2080 can room up to 8 exp. boards, the 1080 only four. I have a 1080 myself, excellent for sequencing, recording, and live performance if you have a decent masterkeyboard

There is a lot more in the 2080 than just the extra EFX and Expansion slots (which are worth the difference alone).
- The 2080 is using 18-bit DACs (vs 16-bit in the 1080).
- The 2080 has a better UI and large graphical LCD which allows for full easy editing PLUS midi message/information monitoring.
- You also get the Patch Finder etc.
