I have songs I've recorded on to the xp60's onboard sequencer that I want to export in to cakewalk 8.0. I want to export each separate xp60 track onto a separate Cakewalk track. When I attempt this now 1 instrument plays back all the tracks! I'm kinda a newbie so forgive my ignorance if this is a simple fix.
I know I can export the tracks as audio but I would prefer to do it as midi.
I can get access to Cubase too if things are easier that way.

If it helps I have AWE64 and Midiman DMAN 2044 sound cards.

i think the easiest way to do that is to just save your song from the floppy drive on the XP as a smf-0 (standard midi file 0), then just open it from the floppy disk (a in cakewalk....the tracks should all be seperated. easy!

it's better that having to sync midi clocks and arm the cakewalk tracks for recording...blah blah blah....

hope it works for you!

Isn't it smf(1)? Where all tracks are still at their proper postion rather than combined in to one (smf0)? I'm pretty sure its the other way around.
