Hi all

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a guitar player for 24yrs and recently decided I didn't want all of the hassles that come from being in a band. I do however, still want to make music so I bought (still waiting for) an xp-60 with a few expansion cards. Actually the motivation was to help with a small project that my wife got me involved with. If that pans out I'll post info about it at that time.

I've owned an A-70 in the past but I sold it. I'm not a keys player, I mean not at all so this should be a double challenge. Learning to play and learning the ins and outs of the xp.

Influences are hard rock from my childhood days. Stuff like Rush, Pink Floyd, Uhria Heep, ETC.

Well just wanted to say hi.

Howdy,
I'm also a guitarist who purchased an XP-60 for much of the same reasons. I am working through the manual, slowly but surely, with the determination to make backing tracks to play guitar over. Welcome to the boards.

Hi,
good to hear there are other instrument players who have seen the light in the form of workstations. creating backing tracks is much easier when using an external sequencer like cakewalk especially if you are not a keyboard player. I am running cakewalk version 3.01 which is from 1994 (seriously!!) And even knowing all the functions of the XP60 (and as you know there are many!!!) You can unleash far more of the sound editing options from cakewalk etc.. Good luck with song writing! I am always happy to hear other peoples work if you need a second opinion

Thnx for the response all.

Well the xp-60 came today. I bought it secondhand via mail order (Ebay, kind of).The guy had an xp-80 on ebay, I called about it and he also had this xp-60. It was suppose to have a techno, Drum and Bass, and vintage synth exp. cards. at least thats what I thought he said. Well, it actually has Techno, Hip-Hop, and Experience II cards.
Oh well, no blood no foul.

The thing that bothers me though is that the start stop button on the sequencer is a little flakey. It works but the button has kind of fallen in. If I pull it out and position it right it works ok, but then falls back in. so this has to be done everytime you use it. Not a big deal really but, I'll try to renegotiate the price because of it.

I only paid $800 shipped to my door! LOts of cool sounds!
