I've read quite a few reviews of the XP-60 and people say there's a static noise that shows up in patches with a lot of sustain. Considering that the XP-80 is almost the same board as the XP-60, does it have this same problem? (I won't buy either until I've tried 'em out, but that won't be for a couple weeks.)

There will be no benifit in having the xp80 in solving this issue; if you can call it a problem. This has been discussed at length here before. The only time this can be heard is when the sound is almost faded completely away. If there are any other instruments playing, it will never be heard. If you are concerned at the end of a song, you can easily do a fade on your recording program before the XP sound totally dies.
