I just got an XV-3080 and I noticed a couple of odd things that make me think I might need to update it's OS:

- Patch D54: note G3 is *much* louder than others
- Patches F33 and F34: Notes A3 and G3 are the same pitch - G3.

My questions are this:
- How do you know what OS version you have?
- Does anyone else notice these problems on their XV-3080?

Other than that, I really like the unit.

OK, I wasn't dreaming, but it looks like my problems have gone away with a power cycle of the XV-3080. I'll see if I can recreate the problem. I'd still like to hear if anyone knows how to determine what XV-3080 OS version you have.

I got 3080 too, but I don't have these problems. This's so weird, isn't it?
I updated my OS from Roland website months ago, and it's version 1.06, however, no difference.....I mean still as good as the original version.:-)

aren't those just problems (or intended characteristics) of those patches it doesn't sound like an os problem at all. at least: not one that an OS upgrade would fix.
have you tried reinitializing the factory presets? or maybe your keyboard doesn't respond well enough.
have you asked roland about this?

1)How do I check what version of the OS I have?
2)Where do I download the current version from?

Thanks for all the info! But I still have some more questions for you:

1) What do I press on my XV3080 to find out what version of the OS that I'm currently running?

2)In addition to upgrading my OS, there is also a Smartmedia update. It says that somehow you must copy the data from your computer to the Smartmedia card. Now here's my question:

Do both of these updates have to happen concurrently? In other words, if I go ahead & update my OS, do I HAVE TO do the Smartmedia update as well? I have no way to get the info from my computers to a Smartmedia card. Will the Smartmedia still function if I only upgrade the OS?

It seems only 5080 can show the OS version, I don't know how to do that in 3080...
I don't know how to connect my computer with smartmedia card either...

I just use Roland's UpdSMF software to dump sysex datas via standard midi files to my 3080 and the smartmedia card still works fine after upgrading my OS.
