I really hope someone can help me

I may have messed up something already on the T3 without knowing

I loaded a Wav file to the keyboard and it worked fine, then I went to delete it when connected to the PC and I think I have deleted too many files as now every time I go into the Hard Disk Recorder again on the T3 it gives me error "Invalid data format, discontinuing the operation" and I can't seem to get around it no matter what I press on that function it just throws me out back to the main menu I have I deleted too many files from the ROOT.HDR directory?

Hi Danny:

I am afraid you did delete more, I think you need to Format the T3 HD, BUT, before you do, make a backup of what you have in your HD, like Registrations, Styles, etc....

To do that, you need to connect via USB the Tyros with the PC, and before you turn on the T3, keep pressed the Music Data Finder while you turn on the T3, this will enable you to be in USB Mode.

Transfer all the data you want to save, and after that, disconnect the USB and re-star the T3, NOW, proceed to Format the HD, and when is done, go back to the USB mode, and this time just transfer the files/folders you want to have back in the T3.
I don't see other options.

As a habit that I have now, every month or so, I back up my T3, entire HD, I keep making small changes not to all, but "fine tune" some registrations, adjusting Volume parts, panning, FX, etc...
In case of an accident, I have a T3 HD backup.

Danny..No..don't re format your hard drive...If you can see other files it is just your record folder..Have another Tyros3 owner email you the record folder and save to your drive..

Thanks to both of you for the responses although I have been VERY lucky indeed.

I did try different things though like system resets and restores from the options panel but nothing worked.

After losing all hope I was going to try to reload the operating system back onto the machine, so I connected the T3 back on the PC and I noticed that the Recycled Bin wasn't empty (even though it was when the T3 wasn't connected), I looked into and THE FILES WERE THERE!!!! As you can imagine I wasted no time restoring those files, switched off the T3, started it again and breathed a sigh of relief to see the function working again.

So that was definately a lesson to learn for me, however, in my defence I thought it was a bit dangerous that each WAV file that gets converted to Audio gets saved into the main root mixed inbetween the system files that the T3 absolutely cannot function properly without! I just make sure I backup every time I make a change as suggested.

Danny,
the Ty3 is not really intended to encourage users to delete and add audio files directly to the HD root directory.
They should be routinely handled in the "safer" environment of using the Hard Disk Recorder buttons- import/export/delete etc.
