Looks like the first was SR-JV80-99, than as each new one came out the last two digits were 1 less.
Experience 1 = SR-jv80-99
Experience 2 = SR-JV80-98
Experience 3 = SR-JV80-97

Were these ever marketed at all? I understand they were created so one could "experience" the sound capabilities of the jv/xp series.

If roland was using these cards to help boost sales, wouldn't that indicate these sounds were the best Roland had to offer? I'd like to get one of these cards. I don't want to get a vintage card or the 60's and 70's because I understand there are many of the same sounds just slightly tweaked differently. So I'd rather have an experience card that is more versatile.

What's up with these? So how were/are they marketed? Anyone like'm?

Don't waste your money, at least not on I or II. I had I ('99) (came with a 3080 I bought). It came with a whopping 64 patches, most of which were from vintage synths and the world card. Not a one of them sounded all that interesting.

I saw the patch listing for II and it was nothing special, either.

Don't know anything about III, but if it's as good as the others, it's a waste of money.

Someone else's .02 may differ, however.

Well, now if I could create a custom experience board, it might be worth it. I think the cards do repeat themselves a lot, and I could easily live without a good half if not more of the waves. But, the experience boards don't really capture what I'm looking for. They choose samples from weird boards and put them together. Why not make a world experience board and use patches from world, asia, and latin? Why not make an electronic board and use patches from techno, hiphop, and house? They've started getting the idea with these new SRX boards, but the experience cards I think are organized stupidly.

You can find them on Ebay though. I've seen a lot of them there.

Well FAEbGBD and raisindot.... I know you guys don't sound too fond of the experience cards but I just won the e-bay bid on an experience 2 for 56 bucks. Not a very heavy investment so if I find the card useless, oh well. I was hoping there might be a good wurly and b3 on it. I guess I'll have to wait and see huh? I do like my Session board that came with the JV1010, particularly a few pianos. I was thinking of buying another Session card to put into my XP-50 just to give me more sequencing flexibility to where my sequences could use Session sounds from either the JV1010 or the xp-50.
I'm still pretty new to MIDI and synths in general and was wide open about what products to buy but it seems I've settled into being a Roland kinda guy.

Peace,
Bob

Of all the boards I've played with, the Session board is the most versatile. I haven't found a better JV/SR piano that the Session's stereo grand, and most of its waveforms are greatly superior to those in the stock JV banks of my XP-30.

In fact, the only board I like more than the Session board is my Country board, which has a great selection of acoustic/folk instruments and a better variety of country and blues guitars.
