I received my Podium Pro Audio speakers today. I gave them a good workout on my T3.

I bought them at OFD deal of the week - They are "THE DEAL". They are solid, and well made. Nothing cheap about them. They are the mini-me of my EVSX100 powered speakers, without the hiss and overheated cooling fins.

There is plenty of volume. I had the keyboard at about 1/4 volume an the speakers at about 1/2 way. They were very loud without ant distortion.

(My 2 cents- Don't invest in the Yamaha TRSM02 speakers at $250+ for home use. They are glorified computer speakers. I have the 1st generation Yamahe YST MS50's for several years, which are the exact same speakers for the computer.

They are like a toy compared to the sound you will get from the Podiums @$99 ea., when the deal pops up again. I saw them at this price in December but missed out.)

The real test will be when I use them on Friday night's gig as monitors.

Another benefit is - I know I will be taking these instead of the heavy speakers to certain venues that I volunteer for. _Hospitals, benefits, etc.

Nice little speakers, but my sound TOOK OFF with the Bose Compact - and believe me, the compliments support the statement.

got my pair of 802's a few days ago

i will have a party with my Duo tomorrow, Sunday using my Roland G-70, Ketron XD3,
and my guitar player

there will be approx. 500 people in attendance, very large hall as you can imagine

no, the 802's WILL NOT be my main speakers :-)
but rather our MONITORS, 1 for each of us

my main speakers are my beloved HPR QSC's 12" with Mackie powered subs

i will report back after my gig with my thoughts

if they can pass this 500+ venue
i will be VERY happy
hope the 802's don't fry on me.

Lee, I have used a pair of 802's with over 350 people..I use a mixer with the Podiums..I covered the room easily..It was a dinner crowd with a dance floor..No big thumping bass needed with the gig...but the 802's covered the bass needed with no problems..I am talking about a trio..

When I wanted to boost the bass for certain songs..it performed well..

I have the 1204's as the bands main system now...if you want to talk about a bottom..

Lee, try the 802's with the Mackie subs (no QSC's)....Let me know if you don't think they can replace the 12" units..

I am seriously considering one of these as my main keyboard amp and monitor and was just wondering about two crucial points - is there a real (ie musical) difference between A and D classes (the speakers are listed as CA...and CD)? And, what does the ominous sounding reference to components hooked up to the amp being "line level" mean?

The newer Class D amps are more efficient than the Class A, B, or AB, but some think give up something in terms of 'warmth' in the sound.

'Line level', the PRACTICAL explanation. Only input the signal from a PRE-amp, never an AMP. Also, the direct signal from your arranger or similar equipment. Usual input is from an UN-powered mixer.
