I am wanting to record tunes on my pc using Cakewalk. My music is pop/rock and I want great acoustic drums and pop/rock bass sounds. What would be the best module to cover the basics and have realistic acoustic drums and good warm punchy bass sounds? Keep in mind this is for recording, not for live performance. I want good pianos, organs, strings etc but my primary concern is drums & bass.
I am looking in the $500 or less range.

A JV-1010?

I personally use GigaStudio, JV-1010, XV3080, TD-8 Drum Module, so I'm a pretty well set up with rock drums and bass. (Sorry had to brag a little bit..) The XV-3080 with the Studio SRX card has some awesome rock drums. But in your price range, the JV-1010 will do just fine. You could probably purchase an TD-6,TD-8,TD-10 for around $500.00 or less on Ebay.

I do pop/rock also. It's a trip to have a virtual band!
