I just sent the song to Nigel. If none of you recognize it, that's the end of the line for me.
I called every corporate office connected to this tune, including Muzak. Everyone was very polite and helpful to me when I told them I was a professional musician wanting to perform the song.
What I found was "hold" music is piped in separately from "background" music. This song was on the CVS "hold" menu for quite a few years. The person who originally programmed it to play is no longer there, so it just carried over from year to year. No one knows anything at all about the song other than that it is presently still being used. Also, someone said "hold" music is public domain and no royalty checks are issued, so that's another dead end.
If no one knows it here, then that's the end of it. I'll have to take the time to write out a transcription...not that difficult but it will take time.
BTW...in my travels, CVS and Staples both told me there have been many inquiries over the years about the name of the song. It's seems to have "grown" on a lot of other people too.
