Hello!
In browsing through the SynthZone forum, I keep seeing reference to a "Sound Driver" for the JV-1010. Was I supposed to get this with my newly purchased unit?!? I'm on a Mac is that matters.

Thanks!

I think you should have it, and it's a cross platform program, works on PC, and Mac.

Get in contact with the supplier, and/or Roland.

It's called SoundDiver (not driver) and you can download the roland specific version from emagic's website www.emagic.de
I think they call it OEM version. the latest release is 3.04 if I recall correctly

ah, the correct link is:
ftp://ftp2.emagic.de/pub/sounddiver/windows/sounddiver_jv-xp_updater.exe

oh and this is only an updater if you have a jv1010 you should also have a CD containing an older version of sounddiver.

Does anyone know why I would need this "SoundDiver" installed on my Mac. Like, what exactly would I need to install this for?!?

Thanks!

Be patient m.,
somebody will answer your question. Someone like me for instance. But you could've looked up the answer for yourself by checking out the link to emagic I gave you.
Anyway: Sounddiver is an excellent patch-editor/librarian. You can create your own sounds (patches), Rhythm sets and performances with it. You can also do this with just the synth but this program makes it so much more convenient. And it has the benefit that you can store all your user data on a pc, organize them and easily compare them all.

The JV-1010 allows NO patch editing from its front panel. If you plan to create your own sounds/perfomances, you WILL need SoundDiver.
