It was ok until it started making that awful Hammond wannabe sound full of the wrong frequencies. So I skipped it and didn't like what it was doing to the electric guitar either, playing impossible progressions for a guitarist. If your going to use the sounds of other instruments you have to keep them in range and be believable.

I thought if it had used electronic voicing and its own unique sounds it would have been better (although this music is not my kind of thing), big vintage synth sounds and cut back square waves may have worked better.

Some of the other videos are better. It may be the Audio compression but the samples sound a little on the low quality side. I think it may be an instrument for the Japanese domestic market?

Sacrilege! Actual live musicians playing together as one. Yuck! just kidding, obviously.

Although that repetitive stuff goes only so far with me, I though this was a cool little piece. Very interesting keyboards as well.

A rebuttal on Tonewheeldude's comment:
Personally, I didn't mind the choice of sounds in the least. In fact I thought they lent themselves well to the material being performed. I'll agree that if a popular tune is being played that used a trumpet or some other instrument as a melody line, and a keyboardist is going to try and duplicate it, by all means stay within the frequency and technical range of the particular instrument. But I think it is perfectly fair for a performer to make the decision on what sound(s) to choose, either similar to or completely unique of other instruments for their performance. Just my opinion.

you must forgive my harsh attitude - I have spent most of my life around Hammond organs...and the reedy, cheesy, faux organ sound on 98.7% of keyboards are like fingernails on a blackboard. Looking at the "chromatone" it does appear to be a low end instrument with a chromatic keyboard and he is probably limited to GM voices.

But I understand only too well that it is simply my oppinion and that most people, including many keyboardists, do not have a true benchmark. Just accepting the sound as it is. However stick 'em in front of a live, tight, Acid Jazz trio and they will never forget it.

Put aside the sound quality - and I still maintain that if you are going to sculpture sound, as this guy is doing, you need to start with something original.
