$419.99. Only 300w (RMS) per but they're pretty loud. Great bang-for-the-buck.

Hello;

I can see that the Podium speakers were recommend for cost, but how do they sound?
How would they compare to other top models such as Mackie SRM 350v2, 450v2s, EV ZX A1, ZX A5, JBL EON G3 510, 515 etc..

What sound character does the Podium speakers have?

Thanks;
BN

I use the Electro VOice ZX1 90s, but, now is the ZX1 100s, same speakers GREAT, I like them so much, that I have 4 that I use for larger gigs, but, the usual is 2 for most jobs.

I know that you can get a pair for about your budget, so do not let the MSP bother you.
Go an audition ANY speaker, but this one, is a winner, the most versatile, can be use in many different ways, as monitor or front PA, it has an optional wall mount, very LIGHT weight an for an 8 inch woofer, gives you an incredible bass response.
When I auditioned in one side I had a 2 Way SM12IV Yamaha and in the other side the EV ZX1 90, needless to say, You know what I purchased.
Again, try ANY speaker brand and if possible in the same mixer, one side brand "A", and in the other side brand "B", put a CD in mono and play and hear the difference.
Hope it helps. http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product__-1_10052_10002_-49966874?cm_mmc=Google_Samash-_-Brands+EV-_-EV+Speakers-_-Electro+Voice+Zx1|-|100000000000000102582&cm_guid =1-_-100000000000000102582-_-4419513527

Hello Mdoratnes;

The EV ZX A1 does indeed look impressive. Compact, powerefull and light weight. One concern I have with the A1 it that it has an 8" woofer. Does it have the ability to produce adequate bass? Speakers noramlly which don't have larger woofer favour the mids and highs and can sound thin.

What size venue could one use the EV ZX A1s in?

I was looking at the ZX A5 because of its 15" bass driver, but the overall weight goes.

Thanks;
BN

For the price of the EV..you can get a pair of powered Podium 802's ...shipped and have enough money left over to buy dinner for four...

Let me know what time is dinner ....

Seriously, you do need to consider the Podium line up...Do a search here on SZ..you will see many favorable views..I am using both the 802's and 1204's....they replaced...the Mackies, JBL, Yamaha, and Yorkvilles....

How many memeber in your band and what size venues do you play at. I am trying to obtain a appreciation of what the 1204 are capable of. Do you find the bass lacking with the 12" woofer. I wonder how much more impact one obtains with the 1504s.
