i'm a proud owner of a brand new jv2080.
my question: is it possible to use the jv2080 as 16 independent instruments ? i know i have to switch the jv to performance , but when i try to change a program (patch) on one of the channels the 2080 switches performances instead of patches. what's wrong ??

Should be possible...

I believe the JV-2080 can be given a performance control MIDI channel, but you will have to lose one of your 16 MIDI channels. (I think it defaults to Ch16)
It should be possible to switch it off if needed, however I doubt you'll need to use every single part the JV has to offer, I think you only use upto 10 parts at most. Remember the number of voices on offer is 64, you may find that you'll start getting short of voices if you try playing on all 16 parts.
