Greetz,

I use to have a JV-1010 and I just upgraded to a XP-30 and I'm having the hardest time getting this thing to work correctly with my PC. I have an Pentium III computer and connecting the XP-30 through my SB Live card via MIDI cable. I'm also using Power Tracks Pro 5 for sequencing. Here's my symptoms:

1) Parts 1-16 are not defaulted to corresponding channels 1-16.
2) Some parts have the Rx defaulted to OFF.
3) When selecting a part to use the XP-30 as a controller during playback note past C4 do not work.
4) There seems to be some pitch transposing going on when it is turned to off (or at least from what I can tell).

Basically, all I want is get this synth to virtually "plug and play" with my PC as much as the JV-1010 did. If my software is asking for Sterrow Bs for track 2 on channel 2, that's what I want to get!

I've tried everything the manual says to do, like making sure Performance mode is on that the channels correspond with the parts (which seems to cause more problems). I;ve read a post on this BBS which said to make sure the Performance is on Part not Layer mode... that made ever thing worse and the Rhythm channel went out! What the hell!

Sorry if I'm being beligerent, but I 've been battling this synth for a week now and I don't know if this thing is defective or not. Part mode for when I use it live seems to work great and without any trouble.

Is my synth defective or am I just slow?

Thanx in advance for any and all help.

Well I called Roland's tech support and although the guy talked to me like I didn't know my ass from my elbow, he was very nice and very helpful in solving my problem. So a big "Yeah!" for Roland's tech support department.

Anyway, I guess for one reason or another (I still would like to know) when you enter Performance mode you want to be on PR-A:12 and then all of the MIDI channels will have corresponding parts.

So, there you go for anyone else who doesn't know.
