Hi, all,

I bought a JV1010, to use together with cubase and a MU100(yamaha).
now this is my problem. toconnect them both, I connected the mu100 straight to my old Atari 1040ST and midi out to my jv1010.
When I play files I can select some channels from my mu100 to be muted. I want the same in my jv1010, but dont find anything in the manual, to do that. does somebody have a sugestion for me?
for example I want channel 1-8 for my MU100 then channel 10-14 for my jv1010 and 15-16 for other equipment.
please anybody tell me how to set this up?
thanks in advance.
Francesco

Francesco Z,
Greetings and parameters.

I believe you can accomplish muting midi channels on your JV1010. This is only something I have seen in the cd-rom reference manual that came with my unit. It is not something that I have tested out myself, and I hope that you have a copy of the cd-rom.

In the parameter reference section, look for chapter 2, section 2: functions of performance parameters. In that section look for "making midi settings for a part". This should explain the actual function.

Then, go back to the performance parameters section of the cd-rom to actualy change the parameters under the "midi group" section.

Hope it works,

Oh, I forgot to mention that to actually change the midi channel settings you will need to use the sound diver program that roland also put on the cd-rom that was included with the JV1010.

I have recently purchased a JV1010 from Japan but they don't supply the English manual nor the Sound Diver software. Would you guys be able to help me on this?

Stephen

Thanks all, for replying to my mail...
I did axually study a littlebit the refference guide.(witch was not very clear to me atall) and I found some information about the my problem. The case is, that I'm not using it with my computer, but with the old atari.... As you might know, some synths,(like the mu100R) you can edit very easy just throught the control panel of the synth itself. I WAS hoping axually that there was a more easy way for me doing this. I was the owner off a xp30 before, but found it easyer to take the jv1010 with me on gigs.(the sound are great, but the xp30 has just a littlebit MORE timbric feeling to my opinion)
but in my setup I want to use it in an easy way with my other synths, wich I found out now, that is not so easy atall ))-:.
However I thought about the idea, just to play with the volumes of the different synths, so that it looks like muting parts.
Can anybody tell me, iff I loose polyphone aswell using a part, with non volume atall?
to my opinion it will, but did not have the time to research it yet.
anyway, thanks for your replies,

FrancescoZ,

If I understand your question correctly, you were wondering if you would loose polophony while playing a part even with no volume. The answer is yes: midi sound generators don't care if the volume (midi or the physical volume control) is all the way up or down.
