I have been using the JV-1010 and the serial interface with Cakewalk Pro 9.0 with the switch on the back of the JV-1010 set to PC2. Everything worked fine for playing and sequencing midi files.

Ok. I just got an SL-990. I hooked up the keyboard directly to the JV-1010 to verify everything worked, and it did; after I switched the JV-1010 switch to midi.

I have a turtle bay sound card with the game port. I have a splitter cable for midi in/out and game port.

I hooked up the cable to the Turtle bay, (again, the JV-1010 switch is set to midi) ran the cable marked "in" to the SL-990 midi out, and the cable marked "out" to the JV-1010 midi in. Cakewalk will play midi files thorugh the JV-1010, but now I have no response from the keyboard. ?

Any and all help appreciated.

Geoff

PS - Hey, is there a manual available for the SL-990? Mine was in a factory sealed box with one two sided page of info.

You should have only the MIDI OUT of the keyboard going to your computers MIDI IN. The MIDI OUT from the computer should go to the MIDI IN on the 1010.

You could also run the keyboard to the computer and plug the MIDI thru from the keyboard into the MIDI IN on the 1010.

MIDI can get really confusing sometimes...
