I just got my A-70 controller and thinking about buying board that will go with it. Is the piano from VE-RD1 sounds better than the one in SESSION board? I just checked the demo from Lilchips.com and it seemed like the VE-RD1 is more richer. Is this true or not. Let me know your comments about this two boards. Thanks!!!

Hi Heyoop and all,
Sorry: I can't compare to the session board, as I don't have it.

However, I've got the VE-RD1 installed in my A90, and I really like it.

But a bit of a warning: the VE-RD1 has alot more capability than the rather poor (IMHO) presets suggest. It takes a bit of tweaking to get it sounding decent.

My impression is that Roland didn't spend too much effort on putting the performance presets together. For example, there are 3 or 4 wurlies on the board, sampled at different velocity levels. It's rather easy (but time-consuming) to create a performance where different velocity values cause corresponding samples to sound: Roland didn't do this.

Still, a cool board.

Chris

Thanks guys. Now I know what to buy. Do you know where I can get a good deal for VE-RD1? Right now I'm just using my JV1010 as the main sound for my A-70. I'm trying to minimize my stage setup and adding internal sounds to my midi controller will be a big help.
