I’m trying to decide on which vocal harmonizer to get: the TC Helicon Harmony M or the Voice Live 2.

Can the Harmony M be activated with a foot pedal like the Voice Pro Live?

Where do you place a Harmony M if you don’t have any space on top of your keyboard?

Does the Harmony M have pitch correction like the Voice Live?

For live performance is pitch correction useful in getting a better natural voice sound? I’m not interested in those “hard auto tune” effects that is used in lots of popular music now days. I just want the best sounding vocals and harmonies I can get.

This would be used mostly live performance and maybe some demo recordings.

Any thoughts which unit would serve me the best?

I've only been attempting to do vocals the last couple of years. I thought the Harmony Voice Live2 would help me. WRONG! My wife said you better not go out gigging with that unit, you sound awful. Yea, total honesty, better hearing it from her, than from the audience. I do have the Harmony M, I use it on a limited basis, works for me and no one's asked me to pack my gear up and leave the gig.

Stephenm52- isn't great to have your own personal critic My wife is the same way. I'm a bit "green" as a vocalist too. Tell me, what about the Voice Live made you sound worse?

Both of the models are great tools! However, a harmonizer will make a good singer sound better, while a bad singer will sound worse!

I would rather spend the money on a few vocal lessons!

Muntunoman, I believe hitman nailed it with his comments.

I'm playing to a senior audience, my song selections are better suited with out too many effects. The Voice Live 2 made my voice sound too synthesized and un-natural. I really wanted the Voice live 2 to work for me. In the hands of the right vocalist it does a nice job.

I bought a TC Harmony M today. All my illusions of a good harmonizer making me sound like a better singer are gone. If you are the least bit off, all your flaws are magnified big time.

I guess I need to play around more with the settings but more than anything I need to really get serious about getting my vocals together.

If you are looking for pitch correction rather than harmony generation, take a look at Antares' AVP-1 rack unit. Same Auto-Tune technology used on most singers (including the greats) these days...

Use it reasonably subtly, and only on the out front sound (it'll mess with your mind if you use it on your monitors!), and it can help poor intonation quite a lot. It can't help poor tone or vibrato, but it can certainly help your pitch..!
