Saw one at Sam Ash over the weekend. Pretty cool for a $200 board. I always like a bang-for-your-buck keyboard. (That's why I chose the 910 over the T3), and Yamaha has managed to come through with another winner.

Well, for a little more than pocket change, one can have a neat little board with some cool features. The use of the 2 controller knobs stands out on this model (and the ones before it). Neat feature that's been enhanced on this one. A handful of new 'dynamic' voices are a nice touch. 4x more memory allows storage of more songs and styles. You'll find good selection of ethnic sounds and styles in addition to the standard fare. A slightly improved speaker system, lots of arp voices (some which now allow you to split the keyboard and use them as accompaniment), and decent keybed - for this level of board - make this a tempting buy just for the fun of it. And the attractive textured black body give the PSR E423 a bit of a classy look. Did I mention it's only $200? No, it's not fit for a pro, but the fun factor gives this little board a ton of curb appeal.

Yes listen to one. Definitely the best keyboard in his class. Sounds very good.

Yes. Last night at the local music store. It's a neat little, entry-level keyboard with lots of great features. I would recommend it highly for someone who wants to try their hand at being an OMB performer without shelling out a huge sum of money.

I have'nt seen this one yet but I know it replaces the 413/403/293.

I know you had a 403 for a while. would you say it sounds pretty much the same as the 403 with maybe a few extra goodies?

Just curious. This is the series I have recommended to my students on a budget. After doing quite a search on the subject I gladly recommended my students get one of these.

I have always felt we could do a gig on one of these and no one in the audience would know, for the most part. Sounds similar to the PSR3000 to me.

I'd say it's an upgrade which shows a bit more refinement in sound quality. A few newer voices help it. Actually I was impressed. The black case adds pizzazz, too.

Last summer I heard a young guy playing at a restuarante in ixtapa mexico with a PSR 413. He does an instrumental solo set and then a few sets with a full band. I have to say he sounded very good. It quite amazing what a budget instrument can sound like under the right hands.

In our church setting, we use a Korg Pa588 (88 key piano/synth/arranger) and it's working great for our contemporary service.(as part of a live band with bass, drums, guitars, vocals) However, there are times when it would be useful to have an arpeggiator for song intros, etc. where the 423 could fill in and do it's duty...hmmm and then there's that sweet soprano sax which the Korg just can't even come close to. I think I'm talking myself into dropping $200 for the unique features of the PSR E423 to add to our music ministry.
