I am interested in buying the Presonus Audiobox USB Audio & MIDI Interface. Does someone know if I could connect the balanced output of the Audiobox to the unbalanced input of my Korg PA 500? I have tried this with a cheap Audioface II but I get high tones and noise through the input of the Korg.

I suspect you are hearing USB "bus" noise.

Only way to get rid of it is to use a ground lift somewhere in the circuit supplying either your PC, or Laptop (you didn't say which you were using)...

Not an unusual problem, one that is easily solved by using a ground defeater plug for the PC's power supply. You can find them at most hardware and department stores. Essentially, it's adapter plug that eliminates the P.C.'s ground connection at the power supply. Some places also call it a 3-prong to 2-prong AC adapter plug. Just about everyone I know that connects their PC to their arranger keyboard via the USB or Host connection using this device and has never had a problem since.

Good Luck,

Gary

Thanks Gary. Yep thats about it

Dennis

PS: Some of the cheaper Firewire (1394) interfaces can also have this noise, so this solution works for them too.
