First of all, let me start off by saying I think this is a great way for Roland users to communicate.

I am planning on purchasing an XV-88. Since it doesn't have a sequencer do you think that the MC-80 would do? A while back, I use to use my friends MC-505 (Piece of junk). But I really got used to the sequencer. So wouldn't the XV-88 and the MC-80 together kinda work like the MC-505 (Except with way better patches, better outs, and a nice keyboard) Cause I do want a hardware sequencer for it.

Also, I know that the 5080 has digital outs, but does the XV-88?

The XV88 HAS NOT got digital outs like the XV5080.

Yes the MC80 would no doubt work well seeing as though it is also made by Roland. It is the best hardware sequencer around at the moment.

However, it is also overpriced for what it offers IMHO! For that money, you could buy yourself a PC and a version of Logic or Cubase, or get Cakewalk Pro Audio9 etc.

Better still, if you don't require audio capabilities, get an old Atari with Cubase, Logic or Notator.

Of course the portability and stability factor also comes into the equation and this is were the MC80 has the definite edge!!

Yes I've gone back to using my Korg Triton's sequencer on a number of projects (I'm a Logic and Notator user!) but there is still nothing like the luxury of a large monitor where you can see your whole arrangement all at once! It all depends how you like working.

Make no doubt about it however- the MC80 is very flexible and powerful if you want a dedicated hardware sequencer! Cheers.
