Hello (and thanks for caring to help me!). Here go some more detailing: 1) I have a performance in which I use the patch named TRANSLUCENCE (PRE-103) along with three other patches (violins, french horns, etc.). By the way, the song I'm performing is Queensryche's Silent Lucidity. OK, the TRANSLUCENCE patch is set to the last octave of my board (the keyboard is splitted among the 4 different patches in this particular performance). I play it sparsingly, and then only a single chord, but this should still be echoing when I release the keys (the kind of delay effect afforded by the DECAY slider, which does not alter the sound characteristics, only its fading duration after you release the keys). I'd like to set this decay - or equivalent parameter - longer without actualy using the DECAY slider, and then only for this TRANSLUCENCE patch (not affecting the three other patches used in this performance). Which parameter should I set? How do I reach it? 2) OK, thank you. 3) I have already tried to copy all effect settings of PURPLE SPIN to my performance, both manualy (one by one...) and using the COPY function for the EFX settings from the original patch to the performance. Neither resulted in the warm, flanged sound produced by that patch alone in PATCH MODE. Any other possibility here? Perhaps ROLAND wants us all to buy extra XP30 boards to do this kind of thing... Once again, thank you for helping. Best regards, Alower Originally posted by unicorn: 1) Please be more specific on your question
2) Go to Patch Edit mode and select TVA settings. Choose the page named "BIAS" (nr 2 in TVA page series). For that particular keyboard setting that you asked of, set Bias Level to "+100", Bias Point to "C4" (or somewhere near) and Bias Direction to "Upper". Don't forget that you can alter the volume level using keyboard velocity in the same manner. Also check page 82 of your manual where you can find all the available options for the parameters above.
3) I'm not familiar with that patch, however the most possible reason for this patch (and all patches in general) to act like this might be that in "Performance" mode you use different effects settings than in "Patch" mode. Try to copy all effect settings of this patch to your performance (see also page 117 of your manual).

Well, not the only way. You can always go into edit mode to the envelope page and record the edit into the track using our old friend Transmit Edit; record that edit into the beginning of the track (or wherever you want the delay change to start), and that's that. I think it's only going to be a single sysex message, so there will be no latency problem.
Really, this is a pretty simple procedure. Check the archives for past posts on how to use the Transmit Edit function.
As for Purple Spin, check the archives on how to set up your EFX in perf mode. I think I did a pretty detailed one a while back about setting up a certain perf part to always use the patch's Patch-Mode EFX settings except for rev/chor, which you can set manually to come close to the original patch's settings. This, too, is a pretty simple procedure, but you'll have to search the archives to find the posts.
In general, almost any patch that uses insert EFX in Patch Mode will sound different unless you set up a perf part to import Patch-Mode insert EFX and then set the rev/chor as close as you can to the Patch-Mode settings.
But it certainly can be done. Don't give up.
Good luck.
