Hi

Has anyone tried plugging Stenheiser HB580 ** headphones (300 ohms methinks) straight into an XP-60 ?

[** Or possibly AKG501s, though they are 400 ohms, I'm told !]

Are they *loud* enough ?
The techie at Roland UK seemed to think that they should be, but only just... !

Both of those models are relatively quiet compared to the output from the XP60. If you're not trying to drown out the world around you, they will sound just fine. They will never be what I consider loud, but you may not need that much volume for your own taste. Any fine retailer will let you exchange them if they sound bad - try a few.

The trouble is that I cant find any supplier in central london who still has an XP-60 and a sennheiser HD580 to sell me !


Rumour has it that Roland had stopped making the XP-60 (Roland deny this) but either way the next shipment wont be for a couple of months !

PS In/near London's "Tin Pan Alley" Rose Morris sold their last XP-60 (ie the demo) at the weekend and Turnkey have run out too.

I dont know who else in central London to try...

The're fine on volume and pretty comfy.
I may have to bend them out a bit at the
grip the head a bit hard !!
