I've been listening to some terrific jazz MIDI files lately. I'd like to view a transcription (on a staff) of what's been played via a MIDI file reader.

I just need to see the notes, not edit anything. Can anyone recommend a simple (minimal kb) reader, either free or low-cost. Nothing elaborate....I'm a simple guy who likes to keep his software "simple."

Don....thanks....I looked at this on the VanBasco page just now. It certainly has come a long way since I last used it years ago.

I think I'm going to download that just for the tempo, key change, etc controls.

But.....it shows the notes on a piano keyboard. I wanted to look at them on a staff. I've seen programs that have "staff view" but many of them were "lightweight" that didn't read the MIDI file acurately.

Any other ideas.....or anyone?

Power Tracks is the way to go.

I have no use Powertracks from http://www.pgmusic.com/, but a lot of people like it.

I use a lot Notation Musician from Notation Software. You can convert the midi files to Fake Sheets, Easy Sheets, Piano Sheets and it give you the chords too.
